Greater Hazleton Rails to Trails

This is currently about a 7 mile trail. There are a few rough spots and an occasional soft spot so wide tires work best. The Greater Hazleton Area Civic Partnership has secured funding to extend the trail into the historic Eckley Miners Village. There are also plans to connect to the D&L trail in the Lehigh Gorge but this phase hit a bump when it was discovered the proposed route was habitat for an endangered flying squirrel. The partnership is currently working on an alternate route. The current trail offers spectacular foliage views in the fall. It passes the Dreck Creek Reservoir. Parking at the main trail-head on RT93 means the trail is mostly downhill leaving a climb for the return ride. My most recent ride on this trail was April, 2021.

The main trailhead parking lot is located at: 40.94123, -75.94730 The address is 1805 E Broad St, Hazle Township, 18202.
